E. & J. Gallo, the world's largest family-owned wine company, continues to see premium wine as the future. Wine Spectator has learned that the company has agreed to buy Stagecoach Vineyard, a 1,300-acre site on Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley. The rocky hillside site has 600 planted acres of vines in an area increasingly recognized for producing quality fruit. It is also the largest contiguous vineyard in Napa at a time when vineyard land is becoming more and more precious.
Growth predicted for the premium segment of the wine market, winery acquisitions to remain high through 2017 as "they aren't making land anymore", farm labor supply and costs are the dominant concerns in the wine business in 2017.

Having had vineyards in the Coombsville appellation of South Napa I am intimately familiar with the impact the scarcity of water has on that area. We have supported this recycled water program since its inception and I'm so glad to see that it is now available as an option for vintners in that area. It seems there are still improvements to be made but it's a step in the right direction.
We've seen them working on the construction for the new Archer hotel & the new Town Center in downtown Napa for quite some time now. Just last night I was at Ca Momi celebrating my mom's birthday and we were commenting on what the new downtown would look like. Just minutes later I saw this Animated Fly through posted on Facebook. For someone who has lived in Napa their whole life this is truly amazing. What a change from the barren downtown that we used to know! Talk about the perfect time to move to Napa!!
